Sumant is the initiator of the annual FON South Asia Short Story Award. FON South Asia Short Story Award is presented to the best story on nature selected by a jury following an international short story contest held by Fellows of Nature. The winner will be given INR One Hundred Thousand at the 2nd edition of Kumaon Literary Festival to be held in October, 2016.
